This summer Color Wheel Studio will offer an exciting lineup of engaging themes and mediums including ceramics, textiles, drawing, painting, printmaking, multi-media and sculpture.
Camp Descriptions for 2024!
Sculpt It – May 28-31 (4 days) – Sculpture is the ultimate exploration of mixed mediums from ordinary items in the recycling bin to wire, plaster, paper, foam, and clay. We’ll show artists how to take their art from a 2D sketch into a 3D form with spatial thinking and problem-solving while having a fun & tactile experience! $350
The World of Illustration – June 3-7 (5 days) – Learn how to draw while exploring the worlds of your favorite storybook, film and television characters. With draw-a-longs and lessons devoted to character development, figure and background, we will hone our techniques and develop our illustrative skills. $435
Clay Play – (2 Sessions) | June 10-14 (5 days) & July 8-12 (5 days) – There’s lots of reasons this is everyone’s favorite camp! We’ll sculpt, build, slip, score, and glaze to make beautiful dimensional ceramic art during a week of playing in the mud. Pottery offers sensory stimulation and reveals marvelous transformation in the kiln. Due to the time-consuming nature of finishing ceramics, we’ll process all pieces for pick-up approximately 3 weeks after camp. $450
Retrospective – June 17-22 (5 days) – Remember the days when things were simpler… and sillier? Think Bob Ross’s “happy little trees,” Chia Pets, velvet paintings, woven pot holders and graffiti art. Reminisce with us as we revisit rad, groovy art trends from the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s. $435
Pop Up Shop – June 24-28 (5 days) – In this camp, artists will become immersed in the worlds of both fine and commercial art. Inspired by 1960s Pop icons Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg and Roy Lichtenstein, we will explore a variety of mediums to craft our own versions of everyday objects – food, advertisements, comic books – that will ultimately contribute to our very own mock-up pop-up shop! $435
Legends, Myth, Fantasy – July 1-3 (3 days) – Inspired by dragons, wizards, werewolves and witches, this camp will entertain our young artists’ fascination with the fantasy worlds of their favorite novels and movies. We will explore the characters, the scenes and the creativity that populate their wildest dreams by creating art that brings it all to life! $285
Art In Architecture – July 15-19 (5 days) – Art is everywhere, including the structures we inhabit every day. From Rococo to Midcentury Modernism, artistic movements & architecture are intertwined through history. In this camp, we will combine our right-brain creativity with our left-brain inner engineers to make models and imagine dwellings and edifices with a designer’s eye. $435
The Color Wheel Experience: Eco Week – July 22-26 (5 days) – Join us for a true Color Wheel experience! This final week of summer, artists will have the opportunity to spend a day in each of our studios – Ceramics, Drawing & Painting, Multimedia, Printmaking and Textiles. With each new medium, we will focus thematically on the natural environment. Eco Art, Color Wheel style! $435
