the Decatur Education Foundation,
Chantelle Rytter and Color Wheel Studio
to light up Decatur the weekend of May 8th!

DATE: Friday – Sunday, May 8th–10th, after dark
Parade-in-place by hanging your lanterns on your porch, in your yard, on your balcony, in your windows. Encourage your block to light it up! Play some tunes from our parade bands, the Black Sheep Ensemble and Wasted Potential Brass Band! Walk, bike, or drive around the neighborhood over the weekend and get your lantern love fix.
The Lantern Puppets!
On Saturday night after dark, keep an eye out for the Krewe of the Grateful Glutton’s giant lantern puppets wandering about town!
The Prize!
There is a prize for Best Lantern Parade-in-Place Decorations! Post a photo of your house in social media #paradeinplacedecatur by Saturday, May 9. The prize includes a visit to your yard by giant lantern puppet Rex Kitty.
Kits!
Lantern kits will be available at Kelly’s Market on April 27. New for 2020 is a paper cut angel lantern that is a “keep safe” for loved-ones designed by Chantelle Rytter. Globe lanterns and illuminated parasol kits will also be available.
